About SmoothFPS
Free guides and tools for fixing FPS stuttering, frame drops, and other PC gaming performance problems.

Our Mission
SmoothFPS exists to help PC gamers fix the stuttering, micro-freezes, and FPS drops that make games feel broken. Most of these problems have specific causes and concrete fixes, but finding the right one usually means digging through scattered forum posts, driver changelogs, and half-written guides. We pull the working fixes together in one place.
Every guide on the site is laid out as numbered steps. When a fix only works in specific scenarios, we say so. When we're not sure a fix generalizes to your hardware, we say that too.
What We Offer
Diagnostic walkthrough
A short series of questions narrows your problem down to a specific cause. You answer what you're seeing, the tool rules out categories that don't match, and you end up with a list of fixes that apply to your symptoms instead of a pile of generic advice.
Solution library
A growing library of fixes, each rated for difficulty and how often it solves the problem. Some are one-click Windows settings. Others involve BIOS changes or registry edits that need more care.
HWiNFO log analysis
HWiNFO is a free Windows tool that records your hardware sensor data while you play. Upload the resulting log and the analyzer reads through it looking for thermal throttling, CPU bottlenecks, power delivery problems, and the other hardware patterns that correlate with stuttering.
Community voting
Every fix has an upvote button. When enough people confirm a fix worked for their specific setup, it moves higher in the list. Your upvote is also the main way other readers learn which fixes are worth trying first.
Free vs Paid
Most of SmoothFPS is free: the 19+ guides, basic HWiNFO analysis, the diagnosis quiz, the solution library. No paywall on the stuff that helps most people.
If you want deeper analysis, interactive charts, before/after compares, or permanent share links, we have two paid options:
- Root-Cause Report — a one-time purchase that unlocks one analysis completely and permanently: every stutter traced to its cause, your throttle causes named, a PDF you keep. No subscription, nothing expires.
- Pro — monthly. Every report you run unlocked, plus your full history and higher limits, for people who re-test after every tweak.
No ads, no data selling, no dark patterns. Just a tool that pays its own server bills.

Important Notice
SmoothFPS is an educational and informational resource. The guides and fixes here come from community knowledge and publicly available documentation, not from insider access. We have no affiliation with Microsoft, NVIDIA, AMD, Intel, or any hardware manufacturer. Nobody is paying us to recommend their products.
Some of the fixes here touch system settings, Registry entries, or BIOS configurations. These can break your install if applied wrong, so read our Terms of Service before you try anything invasive. Always create system restore points before making changes, and if a fix doesn't match your hardware exactly, skip it rather than forcing it.
Get in Touch
If you've got a fix that worked for you, or you spot something wrong in a guide, send it in. Reader corrections are how we catch the mistakes that slip into published guides.
